Radiation Oncologist
Sharon Cupps Dutton, MD, MPH, FACR is a board-certified radiation oncologist with the Pacific Cancer Institute, joining the PCI team in February 2023.
Dr. Dutton received her Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of California in Davis, California, her medical doctorate from the UCSF School of Medicine in San Francisco, California, and her Master of Public Health in Clinical Effectiveness from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her internship at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco, California, and her residency in radiation oncology at the Joint Center for Radiation at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, where she served as Chief Resident.
After earning her MPH, Dr. Dutton worked in academic medicine at Harvard, practicing radiation oncology at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She returned to her native Northern California in 2001 where she practiced within a large community radiation oncology practice for more than 20 years, participating in clinical research, and serving in multiple leadership roles including Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology for Sutter Health, Sacramento Sierra Region.
Dr. Dutton has been awarded numerous honors, has presented her research at local and national meetings, and has authored several articles in peer-reviewed publications. She is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the American College of Radiology (ACR).
When asked what she enjoys most about her role as a radiation oncologist, Dr. Dutton replied, “My favorite part of my job is connecting with people and having a positive impact on their cancer journey.”
In her spare time, Dr. Dutton enjoys outdoor adventures, running, and family time with her husband, three adult children, and young grandchildren.
